I/O Module's Flexibility

I/O Module's flexible output relay can control many different types of low voltage devices, from pool valves to electric door strikes to garage doors due to its different relay modes. When controlling devices like pool valves, you will want the ability to leave it on for an extended period of time, giving it plenty of time to fill the pool. As it approaches the desired water level, then you can remotely turn it off. For devices like electric door strikes, set I/O Module's output relay to momentary, allowing you open the front gate using a Mini Remote*, Keypad button or any other Insteon controller.

A third version of I/O Module's momentary mode allows you to remotely press your garage door button with an Insteon On command, but only if your garage is currently closed. This allows you to open your garage with On command and close it with an Off command. Because I/O Module uses a garage door sensor to know whether the door is open or closed, it only controls the garage when it needs to.

*I/O Module communicates via power line only so if you intend to control it by a Mini Remote (which is RF only), you'll need at least one dual-band Insteon device such as a plug-in module or wall switch to bridge the gap.

Works great

I got one of these as part of my emergency whole house water shut off system in case of a water leak. I got my second as part of my garage door control. I got my third one, attached to a float switch, to alert me if my sump pump fails. All are easy to set up and work flawlessly.

Thanks for your kind words and glad you've found so many great applications for this device.

I have been using the I/O module for many years and it has always performed flawlessly. There have been instances in the Northeast where lightning storms have taken their toll but that is purely a matter of the function of the installation. My primary use of the I/O is as a chime annunciation controller for gate entry systems such as Door King. The I/O is typically installed in the basement of the home and is triggered via a hard wired connection from either an in ground proximity type loop detector of magnetic probe (which are susceptible to lightning strikes). The I/O the sends an X-10 signal to any number of X-10 chimes in the house. I use the X-10 chimes as they are really the only ones currently available with a fairly pleasing chime annunciation.
I also have used the I/O module for a number of other miscellaneous relay functions with excellent reliability. Great product and I'm very happy it is once again available.
