Reliability is key

I’ve been with Insteon for 10 years and all I can say is that they are far more reliable than my other devices from different manufacturers. This was why I chose Insteon from the start.

Very useful and reliable

I have 27 of these units, actually a combination of on/off and dimer modules. I have been using them since 2015 and have only had one failure in all that time. ( a 30V zener diode burned out, I replaced it with a higher wattage version and the unit still works today). While these units were originally referred to as lamp modules, I have never used one for a lamp. I have 8, 12 V transformers for yard lights. All those transformers are connected to dimmer modules (picture below) so that I can program on/off control and brightness of the various yard lights. My garage shop has switched ceiling lighting (main lights) and a receptacle in the ceiling for the garage door opener (also Insteon controlled). I need more light than the main lighting supplied for some tasks. I doubled the number of lights on the ceiling and fed the extra lights with an on/off module plugged into the garage door opener receptacle. I programmed my control software so that I can turn the main lights on with one press of the Insteon wall switch. If I press the switch on a second time, the second set of lights come on. When I turn the switch off both the main lights and the second set of lights go off. My other use for the modules is for Xmas lighting. I keep the modules attached to the various light strings and window candles used for Xmas decorations. That way I can pull out the lights, put them up, and plug them in and they all automatically come on and off at the correct times and at the the correct brightness via the whole house controller.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a detailed review. We appreciate your loyalty and are glad to hear that you have found multiple uses for our devices.

Insteon consolidated our various security systems!

Between four security light switches that surround our home with floodlights, 13 Ring cameras and several Ring audio speakers for outdoor security, we use Insteon for the outdoor light control and combine Insteon with Ring within Alexa for voice control of all security technology in and around our home. And getting creative, we now use Insteon to turn on parts of our home theater (such as a Windows computer) that used to require opening a rack cabinet and manually turning on a switch. With that and the theater lighting controlled by Insteon for a slow fade movie theater-like lighting experience, we are most impressed with our Insteon capabilities. And we are actively working on more automation opportunities.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with the Insteon On/Off Module. We love that you are getting creative with its capabilities and are actively exploring more automation opportunities. We truly appreciate your support and hope that Insteon continues to exceed your expectations.

Works great for controlling under counter lights.

I ran the wires to my kitchen under counter lights to a common location. This, in conjunction with an 8 button controller works great

Perfect for indoor holiday lights

Dimmer units often don't do well with strings of LED holiday lights, sometimes causing blinking or just weird unreliable behavior. If you get those effects, there are perfect.
