Excellent little module

I bought the Micro On/Off Switch module to replace a failed older module. It was not a "drop-in" replacement, as the wiring is different. But after wiring it up, it worked perfectly immediately. Since I now know more or less what I'm doing, I'm thinking of wiring up in the "signal" lines to give local control that I didn't have before. Great module!

It’s Always About The People

My latest addition to my Insteon home was this nifty micro on/off switch module. My use case was a tripping GFI in the garage by which a freezer was powered. We know that freezers leak current making GFIs prone to trip. A trip happened once but luckily I caught it when the wife complained about the washer not starting. I asked the team at Insteon what I could do and this switch was suggested. It works perfectly. So why the switch is excellent (and tiny), the kudos go to the Insteon team for suggesting it. When you have a problem, send them an email. You won’t be disappointed.

Thank you for your kind words and for sharing your positive experience with our Micro On/Off Switch Module! Our team is always here to help and we're glad we could provide a helpful suggestion.

I acquired the micro on/off switch as a replacement for my Insteon Inlinelinc switches since Inlinelincs are no longer being produced by Insteon. Given that context, here are my observations:

• The form factors for the Inlinelinc and micro on/off switch are significantly different. The micro on/off switch does not fit in my Insteon panel and special accommodation has had to be made.
• I use Universal Devices (UD) software to configure my Insteon devices. The micro on/off has configuration limitations that have made it harder to configure and control using UD. Since UD software is fairly complete, I assume that any limitations are with the device, not UD software.
• It’s my impression that the micro on/off switch had problems manually syncing with its paired controllers. Multiple attempts were sometimes required to complete functional control connections.

All in all, I’m sorry that the Inlinelinc units are no longer available. The micro on/off switch is an adequate substitute, but just barely.

Perfect, as always

I’m grateful that these are available again. The micro on off is easy to install and connect to the system. I used it along with two relays to control (240v) pool pump (mimicking a 2477SA that failed and is no longer available).

The Micro On/Off Switch is the must versatile Insteon Product

The Micro On/Off Switch and it's cousin the Micro Dimmer switch is the most versatile product from Insteon. Yes, it's a great way to easily add a switch or a new location of a switch for a light. No new wiring to run. Place the Micro switch in the box where the light is electrically connected and use a remote to turn/off/dimmer your light. Where I believe the Micro switch excels and where I use them all the time is where there is no switch. For example, controlling the transformer for your outside landscape. I use them for this an other devices like pumps on an outside fountain or water fall. Once in place you can set schedules or use Google or Alex for voice control. How about outdoor flood lights. Imagine being awakened by a noise in your yard or house just after you jumped into bed. No problem, just tell Google or Alexa to turn on the floodlight(s). I have used these switches and dimmers for years. There is no other product like this on the market.
